ANURAG KASHYAP

ANURAG KASHYAP the director of GANGS OF WASSEYPUR is the real deal in Indian cinema, mind you he is not the real juice that comes out of a tetra pack but he is the real juice that comes out of the steel machine from your neighbourhood juice corner, which you drink in a beer mug.

The man gave us DEV D, where critics wrote that finally the Indian woman in Indian cinema has come of age with the depi...ction of the modern paro and modern chandramukhi.

Then he came up with the underrated GULAAL which many have not seen and has one of my fav dialogues , “agar mere baap ne time pe withdraw kar liya hota to tu har**zadgi se bach jata”.

Anuraag then produced a fantastic tale of a father son relationship unlike you have seen before in the Vikramaditya Motwane directed effort UDAAN (the movie got 9 filmfares in 2011)where Ronit Roy just blew your brains away, motwane is also a part of the creative team in GANGS OF W.

Coming to the recent marvel called GANGS OF WASSEYPUR which I would like to give 5 stars and unlike the 5 star advertisement I would not like to say that director ji film ko ek bilang chotti kar do.

GANGS is our answer to the Quentin Tarantino marvel Kill Bill, but as far as GANGS is concerned is it based on the real life incidents in Wasseypur in Jharkhand.
The performances by MANOJ BAJPAI , RICHA CHADDA ,PIYUSH MISHRA and TIGMANSHU DHULIA (the director of PAAN SINGH TOMAR and HAASIL) are straight out of real life.

Abuses galore, gory violence keeps popping up like songs in your regular movies and I must say that SNEHA KHANWALKAR’s music is absolutely refreshing for the ears, the lady was behind the music of OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE and the recent MTV effort SOUND TRIPPIN.

Watch GANGS at your peril and miss it also at your own peril, as the director ANURAAG says in one of the promotional events “ my movie doesn’t give a message as I am not an NGO, it is a creative expression”.
